Florian Koranda, 88, Wausau, died Monday, August 15, 2016 at Colonial Manor in Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born February 25, 1928 in Mosinee, son of the late Albert and Eva (Clark) Koranda. On September 19, 1959, he married Marjorie Pagel at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Marathon. She survives.
Growing up on a farm taught Florian the value of hard work. For several years, he hauled milk for the White House in Marathon and also was employed at the Under Wood Veneer Company and Connor Company. Then Florian, his sisters, and a couple of friends moved to Texas where he went to work for the R.E.A Electric Company. He served his country as a veteran of the Army Airforce. Following his discharge, he worked for First American Bank in Wausau as a custodian for 21 years. In 1987, Florian retired from the bank and worked eight years at the Record Herald as a custodian and fork lift operator.
Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed polkas, waltzes, Western Blue Grass songs, playing horseshoes and stamp collecting. Florian was a member of the American Legion Montgomery Plant Dudley Post No. 10, Wausau.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie, Wausau; one son, David Koranda, Wausau; and one sister, Wenonah Mishler, Milwaukee.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Zeich.
Funeral services will be at Noon on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Pastor Dennis Romine will officiate. Friends may call on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Dudley Post No. 10, Wausau.
