Florentina "Tina" Richards
98, formerly of Wausau, died Friday December 23, 2010 at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.
She was born November 11, 1912, in McIntire, Iowa, daughter of the late Mathias and Clara (Klapperich) Sahr. On February 6, 1937, she married Vincent B. Richards at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death February 4, 1990.
Tina was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking and will be remembered as an excellent baker. She was an exceptional seamstress and also knit countless mittens for her family and children's groups who needed them. This act of charity earned her the affectionate title of "Mitten Lady". After retirment, Tina and her husband loved to go fishing and camping.
Survivors include four children, James (Kay) Richards, Kronenwetter, Joan (Allen) Liegel, Madison, Ruth (Roger) Wagner, Sayner, Kathleen Hain, Worthington, Ohio, a daughter-in-law, Judith Richards, Wausau, 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, ine great great grandchild, one sister, Margaret Juedes, Schofield, one brother, John (Betty) Sahr, Wausau, three sisters-in-law, Jean Richards, Wausau, Mae Richards, Calif., and Ellen Richards, Rib Mountain.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Vincent Richards Jr., three grandchildren, two brothers, Albert and Leon Sahr, three sisters, Leona Springer, Katherine Jax and Sister Mathea Sahr FSPA.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Weds. December 29, 2010 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Weds. from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
