Florence A. Wilke

Florence A. Wilke, 81, Wausau, died Sunday June 22, 2014 at Stoney River under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. She was born October 29, 1932 in Marshfield, daughter of the late August and Wilhelmina (Hardinger) Brandt. On July 12, 1958, she married Melvin Wilke at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield. He survives. Prior to the time of her retirement, Florence had been employed as a grocery clerk, was a cook at the Elks Club and also worked at the Marshfield Clinic. She was a member of the Catholic daughters of the Americas, Court St. Rose and the American Legion Auxiliary. Among her favorite pastimes were bowling, playing scrabble as well as selling Christmas trees which she did for over 30 years. Florence was an active member at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau, serving as an usher, working funeral dinners, along with many other volunteer activities. . Survivors include her husband, Melvin Wilke of Wausau, children, Jeff (Sharon) Wilke, Marshfield, Tim Wilke, Rocky Mount, NC, Brian (Cindy) Wilke, Weston, Russ (Peggy) Wilke, Weston; grandchildren, Michael Wilke, Justin (Rachel) Wilke; Andrew and Peter Wilke; Victoria, Jessica, Cassandra and Kristina Wilke; great grandchildren, Savannah, twins, Brooklyn & Charlotte Wilke; brother, Dan (Gerry) Brandt, Milwaukee; sister-in-law, Marian Brandt, Marshfield. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Craft, Eleanor Tremmeling, Inez Kenyon, Irene Leick and brothers, Roman, Chuck, Linus, Leander, Jerome and Clarence Brandt. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 26, 2014 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Jeffrey Hennes will preside. Entombment will be in Christus Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Sixth Street funeral home.
