Florence F. Valenta
90, Athens, died Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau.
She was born February 22, 1916 in the town of Wein, daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Juhlke) Doering. On June 11, 1938, she married Frank Valenta in Hamburg. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1986.
Florence was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Demonstration Club and an active member of the church belonging to the Ladies Aid and also organized the Trinity Food Stand at the Athens Fair. Among her many interests, she enjoyed gardening, taking care of flowers, crocheting, dancing and canning.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Sally Valenta, Green Bay, three grandchildren, Barbara (Roger) Mikelson, Antigo, Shawn (Kay) Wiskofske, Wausau, Lori (Wayne) Wildman, Gleason, eight great grandchildren, a sister, Doris (Del) Peterson, Schofield and a sister-in-law, Ella Doering, Wausau.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Valenta, four brothers, Clarence, Willard, Harvey and Albert Doering and a sister, Dorothy Scheelk.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday August 31, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. Rev. Donn Radde will officiate. Burial will be in the Athens Village Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Roof Fund.
