Florence P. Burek

Florence P. Burek 95, Wausau, died Monday January 15, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born July 8, 1911, in Wausau, daughter of the late Thomas and Sadie (Sniegoski) Burek. Florence was a graduate of St. Michael Grade School, Wausau High School and the Marathon County Normal School. For 43 years she had been employed by Marathon County retiring in 1976 as Deputy County Clerk. Among her many involvements, Florence was a member of the Rosary Confraternity at St. Michael Catholic Church, a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters, St. Cecelia Court No. 357, a member of the Advisory Council of Wausau Hospital, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Wisconsin Valley Library Service and was also appointed by Govenor Lucey to the Wisconsin Retirement Board Fund. Survivors include many relatives and friends. Besides her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret Sheldon, Irene Gola and Dr. A.W. Burek. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Friday January 19, 2007 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marathon County Public Library, Wausau.
