Flora E. Christner, 84, Marshfield passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Her family is grateful for the wonderful care given by Heartland Hospice and the staff at Three Oaks, Marshfield.
She was born on December 7, 1941 in Marshfield, daughter of the late Anton and Emma (Altmann) Kraemer. On August 4, 1962 she married John Christner in Marshfield. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2004.
For many years Flora worked side by side with her husband in various enterprises, including her last position as the office manager at Charles Apartments, a historic building that she and John owned and operated together in Marshfield.
Flora was a devoted wife and mother. She loved cooking and baking, especially for Holidays. Her Catholic faith sustained her through life’s difficulties. People were drawn to Flora’s sense of humor and her beautiful laugh. Some of her favorite pastimes included going on vacations with John, especially New York City where she loved to attend Broadway shows and traveling to Las Vegas at least two or three times a year.
Survivors include her beloved daughter, Barbara Christner, Marshfield, her two sisters, Rosemary Adler, Appleton and Rita Gassner, Wausau, her in-laws, Mike and Bonnie Christner, Marshfield and numerous nieces and nephews.
Flora was preceded in death by her parents and husband, three brothers, Paul, Richard and Thomas Kraemer and a sister, Arline Stangl.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2026 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Douglas Robertson will preside. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
