Fay L. Maas, 78, died Saturday September 21, 2013 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services surrounded by her family.
She was born January 31, 1935 in Wausau, daughter of the late William and Hildegard (Duetsch) Laffin. On February 15, 1958, she married Ronald C. Maas at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. He preceded her in death January 18, 1996.
Prior to her retirement, Fay had been employed as Business Administrator for Marathon County Public Library and later for Wisconsin Valley Library Service.
Among her favorite things to do were spending time at the cottage on Little John Lake in Boulder Junction, cooking special lunches at the Chatterbox and taking occasional trips to the casino. She also enjoyed NASCAR, putting puzzles together, traveling, taking cruises and a good martini.
Above all else, time with family was precious to Fay and she treasured the special moments, large and small. Family traditions like frosting Christmas cookies, decorating Easter eggs and hosting the annual corn roast at the cottage held a special place in her heart. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and made special blankets and Christmas stockings for them. She took delight in cooking them meals, watching them eat and enjoy themselves.
Survivors include her sons, Michael (Annie) Maas, Mosinee and Daniel (Heather) Maas, Wausau, daughters, Marla (Mark) Sepnafski, Mosinee and Terri (Robert) Pitek, Wausau, grandchildren, Marcus, Alexa & Kaile Sepnafski, Andrew & Aaron Maas and Raegen & Tucker Maas, a sister, Bonnie (Les) Zubke, Wausau, a sister-in-law, Carol Laffin, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and Skip & Linda Bresnahan whose help and friendship meant so much to mom.
