Fabian F. Shulta, 82, Wausau passed away peacefully Thursday, March 23, 2017 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau.
He was born April 28, 1934 in Wausau, son of the late Alex and Celia (Barnish) Shulta. On May 21, 1957 he married Verna Kunnanz in Wausau. She survives.
After graduation Fabian proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Upon returning from Korea he was employed as an accountant for many years at WSAU television. Fabian then went to work for the Teamsters Local 446 in Wausau/Stevens Point and retired after many years. He was a certified income tax preparer and he prepared countless returns for many over his years.
In his earlier years he was an avid fast pitch softball player as a right fielder. His greatest passion in life was for the outdoors, especially hunting and musky fishing. Fabian was a devoted Packers and Badgers fan.
Fabian will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years Verna Shulta, Wausau, his children, Lisa Shulta, Wausau and Laura (Jaime) Castaneda, Lakeworth, FL; his grandchildren, Erica, Daniel and Amanda Castaneda, his brother, Edward (Ethel) Shulta, Rothschild, sister-in-law, Nora Shulta, Schofield, brother-in-law, Peter Kunnanz, Ringle, sisters-in-law, Joyce (Dave) Feck, Wausau and Kathy (Richard) DeLisle, Wausau and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Sylvester and one sister, Marge Torzewski.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. The Rev. Joy Nelson Jeffers will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
