Evelyn Tranetzke

May 16, 1919 — April 27, 2018

Evelyn G. Tranetzke, 98, died on Friday, April 27, 2018 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at the Hospice House. She was born May 16, 1919 in Wausau to John and Isabelle (Mueller) Remmel. On June 2, 1941 she married Victor Tranetzke at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2014. Evey graduated from Wausau High in 1938. She worked at McClellans and Winkelmans department stores in downtown Wausau. Evey and Vic married before Vic went into the service. Upon Vic's return they built their first home and soon after started a family. From then on she was a loving stay-at-home mother providing for her family. She was active in Girl Scouts with her daughters being the Brownie Leader, Penney, for 11 years. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. She was very active at St. Michael Church in the Ladies Circle making church banners and helping out at the Christmas Boutique and the Polish Fest. Mom really enjoyed sewing projects and making quilts. She loved to cook, can, and bake, making many wedding cakes for family, and her yummy butter horns. In the summer we enjoyed camping up north and going to army reunions for dad. Evey also enjoyed flower gardening around the yard and her favorite flower was the daisy. For many years mom went on annual bus trips around the country with her sister Marge and the Trekkers group. Her daughter Mary even went to DC with them in 2005. In 2006 she went on the train with Anne, Steve and Marcus to DC to visit her granddaughter Sam, who was doing an internship at the Department of Justice. Being the creative and artistic person she was, mom recently took an interest in adult coloring and colored many beautiful pictures. Survivors include her children, Joseph (Jill) Tranetzke, Stephen (Marcus) Tranetzke, Mary (Ted Johnson) Utecht Johnson, Karen (Mike) Bembenek and Anne (Dave) Raduechel. Grandchildren, Jereme and Jared Tranetzke, Kirke (Melanie) and Kyle (Elizabeth) Utecht, Travis (Kimi), Kacy (Nick) and Kayla (Corey) Wasmundt. Step-grandchildren, Kimberly (Evan) Weatherly, Amanda and Mary Beth Johnson. Great-grandchildren, Keyanna, Kaleb, Maycie, Eli, Thomas, Simon, Axel, Dezmund, Bryden, Kinsley, and a grandson due in July. Step great-grandson Jayden. Her many grand puppies and other relatives and friends. Besides her husband Victor, parents, John and Isabelle, and step-mother, Magdalene "Ma," she was preceded in death by an infant son, Daniel, son-in-law, Keith Utecht, granddaughter, Samantha Raduechel, who always held a special place in her heart, all of her siblings, Loretta, Agnes, Ralph, Alex, Leo, Marjorie, and all her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev William Grevatch will preside. Friends may call Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of services, all at the church, and burial will follow the services at Restlawn Memorial Park. The family of Evelyn would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Nichols and his staff, the staff at Mountain Terrace, and the Aspirus hospice team, especially her nurse Carrie Perry, for their care while Evey was at home and at Mountain Terrace. We would also like to thank her special "angel" Laurie S. who spent many hours with her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Michael Catholic Church or the Aspirus Hospice House. Though you left us sad and lonely, you will forever be in our hearts. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
