Evelyn A. Simons

Evelyn A. Simons 84, Wausau, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Wellington Place, Wausau. She was born June 13, 1926 in Stevens Point, daughter of the late Jacob and Mathilda (Kleman) Golomski. On September 7, 1946 she married George Simons at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2004. Evelyn was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and was a member of the Holy Name PCCW. Survivors include her daughters, Nancy (Butch) Nigbor, Wauconda, Ill. and Shirley Hubert, Wausau; son, George Simons Jr., Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren, Jason, Christopher, Theresa, Sam, Tom, Amanda, Jacob and Lucas; four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brooke, Wyatt and Ianna; sister, Margaret Kovell, Minn. and other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Noon Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. The Rev. Gerald Pehler O.F.M. Cap. will preside. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Wellington Place and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the wonderful care given to Evelyn.
