Evelyn A. Lang nee Fischer-Waraxa Lang, 96, Wausau, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice at Marywood Center, Wausau.
She was born August 6, 1916 in Marathon City, daughter of the late Conrad and Katherine (Bedynek) Fischer. On April 19, 1947 she married Stanley Waraxa at St. Casimer Catholic Church, Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1966. Evelyn moved back to Marathon and on November 17, 1968 she married Melvin Lang at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. In her younger years she was a child care provider to several families in Marathon and during the early years of World War II she was employed at the Marathon City Brewery. She then moved to Janesville, living with her older sister Laparda and family and was employed at the Oldsmobile Plant where they manufactured artillery shells for the troops. She was very proud when she was presented with the largest "suggestions" award of $248 in war bonds and stamps, one of the largest ever paid at the plant. Later Evelyn moved to Milwaukee where she worked at the Weyenberg Shoe Manufacturer where she met Stanley.
Evelyn enjoyed life and was a happy joyful person to be with. She gave so much of her unselfish self to us and shared her time and talents with her nieces and nephews. As children and now as adults we love her and will miss her contagious smile.
