Evelyn M. Gassner

Evelyn M. Gassner 90, Wausau, died Thursday June 21, 2007 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home, Wausau. She was born March 19, 1917, in Wausau, daughter of the late Edwin and Isabella (Sicklinger) Graveen. On October 17, 1945, she married Walter Gassner at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death February 21, 1979. In 1935, she graduated from Wausau High School and later from the Marathon County Normal School. Evelyn was a homemaker and prior to her marriage was a schoolteacher. Survivors include two sons, Jon (Debbie) Gassner and Charles (Cheryl) Gassner, all of Wausau, two grandchildren, Michelle and Shawn and one brother, Earl Sr. (Arleen) Graveen, Wausau. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Habeck and brothers, Leroy, Don Gene, Ralph Sr., Harvey Sr., Willard and Gerry Graveen. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 26, 2007 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
