Evelyn “Jean" Daniels, Oxford, FL, formerly of Stevens Point, died Monday, March 4, 2024.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit (St. Stanislaus) Catholic Church, Stevens Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. immediately following the visitation at the church. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery, Stevens Point. Jean was born on February 6, 1931, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Evelyn (Belling) & Felix Budde. She attended St. Peter’s Catholic Elementary School in Beaver Dam and graduated in June 1948 from Beaver Dam High School. Following graduation, she worked as a dental assistant in Beaver Dam.
On March 27, 1951, Jean married Bob Daniels at St. Peter’s Church in Beaver Dam. Jean’s uncle, Fr. George Budde and his three brothers, Fr. Gerard, Fr. John, and Fr. Ray Budde co-celebrated their wedding mass with them. Bob and Jean celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in March 2023.
Survivors include: sisters Lynn Zick, Christine (Christopher) Bauer; brother John “Jack” Budde, her 3 sons Robert J. (Patricia) Daniels, Lady Lake, FL, Thomas G. (Kriss) Daniels, Lady Lake, FL and James A. (Pamela) Daniels, Mesa, AZ; her 11 grandchildren Matthew Daniels, Andrea (Sean) Donehoo, Katherine Wolff, Melissa (James) Owusu, Roberta (Jordan) Hadaway, Jon (Caroline) Daniels, Chris (Michelle) Bahr, Wesley (Kayla) Daniels, Trevor (Jessica) Daniels, Stephanie (Jeff) Stone, Casey Marshall; and 13 great grandchildren Savannah, London, Cooper, Lucy, Olivia, Paxton, Lorelei, Brooks, Evelynn, Adaline, Joe, Cecelia, and Malcolm.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert in January, her brother Bob Budde, sisters Audery Hankes, Marie Budde, sisters-in-law, Catherine (Schweiger) Budde, Phyllis (Schwoch) Budde, and brothers-in-law Joe Hankes, Wilton Zick.
Jean was an active, dedicated member of her church and a wonderful mother, wife, and friend. While living in Minneapolis, MN, Santa Barbara, CA, and Stevens Point, WI she devoted many hours of time participating in Junior Women’s Club activities, grade and high school Parent-Teachers associations and numerous church and school functions. She served as a Cub Scout den mother, and was a member of several Bridge Clubs, the Whiting Dance Club, Pointer Red Hat Club, Point DAM Club. She was also an initial planner and multi-year worker in the Pacelli Panacea event, a longtime volunteer supporting St Stanislaus (Holy Spirit) Church Funeral Luncheon Committee, and worked as a part-time seasonal employee at the UWSP Text Rental/Book Store for over 30 years.
Jean’s family is very grateful to the staff at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Ministry Medical Dept., St. Michael’s Hospital, Ministry Medical Hospice, Copperleaf (North Crest) Assisted Living, The Willows Assisted Living of Florida, Compassionate Care Hospice, and The Villages Hospital for their wonderful care and support.
Memorial donations, if desired can be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Pacelli Catholic Schools, Ministry Medical Hospice, or local Charities.
