Eugene J. Zoromski, 83, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025, at home with his wife of almost 60 years by his side.
Eugene was born February 26, 1941, in Wausau, son of the late Benjamin and Theresa (Wanta) Zoromski. In 1959, he graduated from Wausau High School and served 6 ½ years in the Army Reserves. On May 29, 1965, he married Mary Kell at Holy Name, Wausau.
Eugene was a skilled general contractor and owned his own construction company. He built hundreds of homes and completed countless remodeling projects. To say he was a hard worker was an understatement. He grew and farmed ginseng for many years. Above all, he was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother and uncle. He was a friend to many and was always there to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. His granddaughters held a special place in his heart, and he adored them. He enjoyed going to their gymnastics and diving competitions and picking them up to go for ice cream at Briqs. Eugene and Mary sponsored several underprivileged children through the Unbound Charity Program. Eugene could be found in his shed woodworking or in his garden where he grew flowers and vegetables with sunflowers and morning glories being his favorites. He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved going to his cottage up north to catch crappies and down to his lease with his hunting group. He always looked forward to playing cards with his buddies and his eyes lit up for a lottery scratch off.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Zoromski; children, Timothy (Amy) Zoromski and Terri (Todd) Fenske; grandchildren, Abigail and Anna Zoromski; brother, Gary (Chris) Zoromski, sister in laws Janette Zoromski and Marlene Zoromski and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Lyle, Donald and Kenneth Zoromski.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. Anne Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Tom Lindner will preside. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service all at St. Anne Catholic Church, Wausau.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Marathon County or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
