Ethel K. Resch

Ethel K. Resch 96, Wausau, died Saturday, January 28, 2006 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born September 20, 1909 in Baraboo, daughter of the late John Henry Sr. and Catherine (Burger) Schmitz. On September 24, 1930, she married Leonard G. Resch at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on August 22, 1984. Among her many interests, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and loved flowers, animals, playing cards and gardening. Survivors include one son, Leonard G. Resch Jr., Wausau; five daughters, Sally (John) Olbrantz, Stevens Point, Patsy Resch, Joan (Henry) Froehlich, Mary (Wayne) Knapp and Sandy (James) Roll, all of Wausau; one sister, Irene Schmitz, Wausau; 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Leonard Sr., she was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward, Maynard "Mike", Claude "Pete", John and Ralph Schmitz; and three sisters, Kathryn Gerber, Mildred and Leona Schmitz. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at The Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev. Stephen Gross will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
