Ethel E. Brandt

Ethel E. Brandt 97, Schofield, formerly of Wausau, died Saturday, January 8, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison. She was born December 2, 1913 in the town of Cassel, daughter of the late Otto and Anna (Matthiae) Hanke. On June 15, 1935, she married Levi Brandt at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Marathon. He preceded her in death in October of 1979. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed playing cards and baking for family and friends. Survivors include, two daughters, Darlene Zastrow, Sun Prairie and Sharon (Phillip) Rowell, Schofield; six grandchildren, Tracy (Dennis Slauson) Nelson, Sun Prairie, Brian (Stacey) Garbisch, Sara (James) Murphee and Kristin (Jonathon) Snyder, all of Rapids City, S.D., Tammy (John Kucirek) Seltrecht, Rib Mountain and Christopher Rowell, Schofield; nine great grandchildren, Andrew, Corinna, Cassandra, Tighler, Austin, Connor, Jessica Tristin and Britney; one son-in-law, Robert (Karen) Garbisch, Custer, S.D.; and one sister-in-law, Adeline Hanke, Marathon. Besides her parents and husband, Levi, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Garbisch; and one grandson, Jay Nelson; three brothers, Walter, Herb and Harold Hanke; and one sister, Erna Kolway. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Joel Brandt will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
