Ethel Ann Belter 73, W1150 Buck Avenue, town of Goodrich, died Friday, September 3, 2010 under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 26, 1937 in the town of Goodrich, daughter of the late Chester and Helen (Kittl) Marthaler. On December 1, 1964 she married Eugene Belter at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2005. Ethel began her teaching career in one room classrooms. She later retired after more than 35 years of teaching around the Edgar area. Some of her favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, tending to her flowers and vegetable gardens and doing needlework. Survivors include her siblings, Phillip (Susan) Marthaler, Athens, Roger Marthaler, Merrill, Leon (Linda) Marthaler, Athens, Terry (Corrine) Marthaler, Cedarburg, David (Lauri) Marthaler, Mosinee, Eva (Anton) Molitor, Medford, Alice (John) Rivers, Minnetonka, MN, Laura (Jim) Nelson, Three Lakes, Marlene (Glenn) Felix, Altoona, Joan (Terry) Schlag, Woodruff and Kathy (John) Olkowski, Three Lakes along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother Donald Marthaler and one sister Barbara Marthaler. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens. The Rev. Charles Hiebl will officiate. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Ethel's name.
