Esther A. Schiavetti

March 22, 1922 — June 26, 2018

Esther A. Schiavetti, 96, Marathon, formerly of Ironwood, MI died Tuesday, June 26, 2018 under the care of Interim Hospice and Palliative Care at Copperleaf Assisted Living, Marathon. She was born March 2, 1922 in Ironwood, daughter of the late Domenic and Ida (Lerza) Gentile. On June 14, 1958 she married Angelo Schiavetti at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hurley. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2003. In her earlier years Esther worked at Paul's Department Store in Hurley for many years. After her daughter Rita was born she enjoyed being a homemaker. Esther enjoyed caring for children and was proud to have cared for her next-door neighbor's child, Andy. While living in Ironwood Esther was a faithful member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Ironwood. She will be fondly remembered as a great care giver to many especially to her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Survivors include her daughter, Rita (Jim) Bjork, Wausau, her grandchildren, Kevin (Laura) Bjork, Monona and Michael (Claire) Bjork, Madison, her great grandchildren, Dominic, Anthony, Jacob and Kaari Bjork, her sister, Mary Paoli, Ironwood, her sisters-in-law, Gerry Gentile, Hurley, Peggy Gentile, DePere and Sigrid Chambers, Montana. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sisters, Edda Olson and Dora Gentile and her brothers, John, Domenic, Anthony and Eugene. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Ironwood. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
