Esther Petri, 91 of Wausau, died Friday, December 12, 2014 under the care of the staff at Mount View Care Center. She went into heaven with family by her side.
She was born May 28, 1923 in Wausau, daughter of the late Arthur and Elsie (Kurth) Lambrecht. On June 17, 1943 she married Harold Petri at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2013
Some of her early jobs included Marathon Battery, Marathon Electric, Marmet, and Marathon Rubber.
She found her true calling as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, dedicating her life to taking care of her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends. Every moment spent with family was a cherished one. No one ever left her house hungry or without good conversation, Esther and Harold greeted you at the door and welcomed you to gather around the kitchen table with a cup of coffee and big slice of pie. Even in her last years she looked out for other residents at Mount View, always making sure everyone had a bedtime snack and were well taken care of.
Her greatest enjoyments included cooking and baking, doing needlepoint and embroidering hand towels/pillowcases. At the nursing home her favorite activity was her involvement in the Old Hens Club, making dinner with a group of other women. She also loved listening to Danny Gritzmacher play.
Survivors include her three daughters, Janice (DuWayne) Revie, Weston, Julaine Petri, Merrill and Joreen (Harold) Jahsmann, Minocqua; foster son, Jon (Debra) Zuiker, Centreville, Virginia; six grandchildren, Tara (Rick) Koch, Stacey (John) Morache, Becki (Parrish) Klawitter, Trandy (Stacy) Revie, Wendy Jahsmann and Billy Hansen; two foster grandchildren, Kerri and Will Zuiker; seven great-grandchildren, Mikaela, Jenna, Dominic, Tyler, Max, Kyle, and Hailey; one sister, Elsie Sturm of Weston.
Besides her parents and husband, Harold "Butch," she was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman and Norman; and one sister, Lydia Lambrecht.
She has found peace reuniting with her Heavenly Father, Husband, Family and treasured Dogs.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Steven Gjerde will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
The family would like to extend a very special Thank You to all the staff who cared for Mom at Mt. View. And her special relationship she has had with the Pastors at Zion Lutheran Church.
