Esther Ann Kern, 74, 417 Beech Street, Edgar, died Wednesday, October 2, 2002 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
Esther was born May 6, 1928 in the town of Johnson, daughter of the late Louie and Alvina (Neuenfeld) Yessa. She married John Kern on January 19, 1978 in Mapleton, Minnesota. He survives.
Esther helped run the family business, "Kern Variety Store" with her husband John. She also worked for the Tribune-Phonograph Newspaper, Abbotsford. She was a choir member at Peace Lutheran Church, town of Frankfort, where she also taught Sunday school.
Besides her husband John, she is survived by, two brothers, Carl Yessa, Weston and Irvin (Josephine) Yessa Sr., Edgar; one sister, Olga Gruening, Kroenenwetter.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2002 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Edgar. Rev. Linda M. Dutton will officiate. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, town of Frankfort. Friends may call on Saturday from 4-8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, and again on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
Pallbearers for the service will be Myron Jelle, John Kern, Carl Yessa, John Yessa, Ronald Yessa and Charles Yessa.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Paul, Dale Kroening, Michael Weber, William Yessa, Irvin Yessa Jr. and Dennis Myszka.
