Esther O. Bauman

Esther O. Bauman 91, formerly of Marathon, died Thursday, September 27, 2001 at Colonial House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Colby. Esther was born October 23, 1909 in the town of Wien, daughter of the late Henry Sr. and Ottillie (Remus) Borchardt. On December 19, 1929, she married Martin Bauman. He died April 22, 1963. Esther and her husband, Martin, farmed in the Town of Wien until the time of their retirement then moved to Edgar. She also worked at Marathon Cheese Corporation for many years. Esther loved to playing cards, making quilts, dancing and was very active in the church. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Alden (Beverly) Bauman, Lac du Flambeau and Martin (Frances) Bauman, Mountain Home, Ark; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred (Frank) Walters and Alma Wetterau all of Wausau; one brother, Henry Jr. (Bernie) Borchardt, Edgar. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert Bauman; one grandson, Steve Bauman; four sisters, Selma Borchardt, Olga Bauman, Ella Borchardt and Emma Bauman; two brothers, Hugo Borchardt and Gerhardt Borchardt. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2001 at St. John Lutheran Church, Town of Wien. Rev. Jeff Tarras will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, Town of Wien. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar is in charge of arrangements.
