Ervin J. Cihlar
75, 3171 County Road B, Marathon, died Sunday January 26, 2003 at his home.
He was born July 7, 1927 in Mosinee, son of the late Joseph and Anna (Cerny) Cihlar. On September 23, 1953 he married Irene Krautkramer at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives.
Ervin was a dairy farmer and carpenter in rural Mosinee until 1971 when the family moved to their present home in Marathon. He was the owner of Pine Acre Door Closer Repair, serving schools, churches and public institutions in the State of Wisconsin until his retirement. At church, he was a former usher and a member of the Holy Name Society. Among his favorite things to do were playing sheep head and fishing. He was especially fond of his Haflinger horses, giving sleigh rides and hayrides.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Cihlar, Marathon, his children, Colleen Cihlar, Marathon, Larry (Kathy) Cihlar, Rib Mountain, and their children, Katy and John, Connie Baeseman, Marathon and her daughter, Allie, two brothers, Joseph Cihlar, Wisconsin Rapids, Art Cihlar, Mosinee, one sister, Elsie (Daniel) Wirkus, Wausau.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Delores and Mildred.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Weds. January 29, 2003 at St. Mary Catholic, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier and Rev. Lloyd Geissler will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Weds. From 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Marathon funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
