Ernestine M. Steele

Ernestine M. Steele, 77, Rockland, MI died Saturday, April 2, 2016 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at the Hospice House, Wausau, WI. She was born January 2, 1939 in Wausau, WI, daughter of the late Alfred and Eloise (Olson) Goldammer. On May 18, 1957 she married Russ Steele in Watertown, WI. He survives. For more than 20 years Ernestine worked at the Public Library in Rockland. Some of her favorite pastimes included crafting, scrap booking, crocheting, gardening and singing in the church choir at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rockland. Ernestine took great pride in raising her children and she truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Russ Steele, Rockland, her children, Mitchell Steele, Rockford, Illinois, Lori (Ronnie) Whited, Alabama, Chuck (Paula) Steele, Dale, WI, Kelli (Roland) Perrelli, Alabama, Chris Steele, Clintonville, WI and Jennifer Steele, Rockford, Illinois, seven grandchildren and one aunt, Eidabelle Sann, Wausau, WI. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Brace, her son-in-law, Brad Brace and her two brothers, Cecil and Jerry Goldammer. Graveside services were held at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, WI. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, WI is in charge of arrangements.
