Ernestine Rader
Ernestine Rader, 91, Wausau, died February 20, 2010 at Stonecrest Residence in Wausau.
She was born on June 5, 1918 in Marathon to the late Hugo Vetter and Helen (Lang) Vetter .On June 17, 1940, she was united in marriage to William (Bill) Rader at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marathon.
She and Bill farmed in the town of Cassel and the town of Marathon from 1940 until 1972. After selling the farm in 1972, they moved to Marathon, where she worked as a hot lunch program volunteer at St. Mary School. During the summer she worked on a part-time basis in local ginseng gardens. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling abroad with her husband Bill after the years on the farm. She was a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women at St. Mary Parish. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and baking, especially desserts.
She and Bill moved to the Garden Apartments in Wausau in 2003 and in 2004 she followed Bill to the Stonecrest Residence and has lived there since.
Survivors include three sons and their spouses, Dennis and LaVon Rader of Green Bay, Robert and Tori Rader of De Pere and Don and Judy Rader of Brea, Calif.; six grandchildren, Kristin (Pat) Cafferty, John Rader, Michael (Amy) Rader, Mark Andrew(Katherine) Rader Mark Adam (Maggie) Rader and Andrew Rader; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, George (Ann) Vetter, three sisters, Mrs.John (Dorothy) Brzezinski, Milwaukee, Mrs. Roger (Joan) Wachtl, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Frank (Magdeline) Trantow, Manawa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William and one brother, Fred Vetter.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 27, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marathon at 11:00 with Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Marathon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzeimer Association.
