Ernest M. Barthels

Ernest M. Barthels, 78, 912 N. Hawley Road, Milwaukee, died Sunday January 12, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital, Milwaukee. He was born April 20, 1924 in Schofield, son of the late Louie and Sophie (Wagner) Barthels. Ernest attended the Janesville School for the Visually Handicapped. He was employed as a machine crewman in the pen department in an industry for the blind from 1971 until retiring in 1989. Survivors include a sister, Pauline Bacon, town of Hamburg, a half sister, Mary (Duane) Smith, Wausau. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Herman and Albert Barthels and one sister, Margaret Schmidt. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday January 17, 2003 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from noon until the time of services at the Stewart Avenue funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Badger Home, Milwaukee.
