Erna M. Diedrich
93, Athens, died February 16, 2005 at Colonial Center, Colby.
She was born March 23, 1911 in the town of Halsey, daughter of the late John and Elsie (Degner) Nehrbass. On October 23, 1936, she married Alfred "Ollie" Deidrich in Athens. He preceded her in death on August 23, 1995.
Erna & Ollie farmed in the town of Rietbrock until they moved to Athens, she then worked at the Hartman Variety Store until the time of her retirement. She belonged to the town of Johnson Homemakers until they disbanded. She was a lifelong member of Christ United Church, Athens, their Women's Guild and worked with the Circle of Joy. For many years, she sewed material for rag rugs for her church and made patchwork quilts for Sun Burst. Erna enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, David (Phyllis) Diedrich, Athens, James (Kitty) Diedrich, Edgar and William "Bill" Diedrich, Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, Audrey (Bill) Klug, Amy Diedrich, Laura (Kurt) Schoenrock and Jeffrey Diedrich; three great grandchildren, Hannah & Nolan Klug and Braeden Schoenrock; one sister, Laura Bolka, Milwaukee; three brothers, Elwood Nehrbass, Cedarburg, Elmer "Butch" (Cindy) Nehrbass, Wausau and Lester (Esther) Nehrbass, Athens.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a infant daughter, Kelyn Diedrich and two sisters, Hilda Diedrich and Elmira Barens.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Christ United Church, Athens. Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Burial will be in the Athens Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may directed to Christ United Church, Athens.
