Erma M. Wiegand

Just a few weeks after her 102nd birthday, Erma Marie (Schneider) Wiegand died on January 27, 2018, under the compassionate care of the nurses and aides of North Central Health Care in Wausau. Erma was born in Martinsburg, Nebraska, on December 30, 1915, to the late Fred and Frieda (Luecking) Schneider. She graduated from Fremont High School in Fremont, Nebraska. She married Harold Edward August Wiegand on August 26, 1937. Erma was a stay-at-home mother until her three sons were in school. At that time she went to work at the Ben Franklin Store in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, where she eventually was the assistant manager. After moving to Racine, Wisconsin, she was the church secretary at Emmaus Lutheran Church. In her senior years she enjoyed many hours as a volunteer at the Talent Shop while it was overseen by Lutheran Social Services in Wausau. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her eldest son William (Bill) and his ex-wife Linda as well as their son Donald. Also passed away was Diana Wiegand, the wife of her youngest son John who presently lives in Turlock, California. Other survivors include her third son, David (Elyse) in Marathon, Wisconsin, as well as many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
