Erma M. Stammer, 101, Wausau, died Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.
Erma was born April 14, 1901 in Wausau, daughter of the late August and Ameila (Behnke) Hackbarth. She married John Peterson on June 2, 1923 in Milwaukee. He preceded her death in 1939. She later married Walter Stammer on June 20, 1964 in Wausau. He preceded her in death in 1975.
Erma was a homemaker. She also worked for the Curtis Company. She was member of the Literary Guild at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wausau, and the American Legion Auxiliary, Wausau. She was quite an artist and painted beautiful pictures. She also loved gardening and flowers.
She is survived by one son, Jack (Shirley) Peterson, Hazelhurst; two daughters, Dolly Olson, Burnsville, Minnesota, Gladys Nies, Gary, Indiana; nine grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
Besides her husbands, John Peterson and Walter Stammer and her parents, she was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2002 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. The Rev. Vernon Dolde will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street Funeral Home.
