Erma M. Skrzypchak

Erma M. Skrzypchak 89, 1240 So. Seventh Avenue, Wausau, died Thursday April 8, 2004 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at her home. She was born September 21, 1914 in Chippewa Falls, daughter of the late Jacob and Ottilia (Seliger) Sonnentag. On September 17, 1934 she married Edwin Skrzypchak in Halder. He preceded her in death March 4, 1984. Erma was an active member of The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, St. Rita's Circle and St. Catherine Council and gave generously of her time and talents. In her earlier years, she was well known for the numerous wedding, anniversary and birthday cakes she created for family and friends. She also enjoyed hat making, knitting, crocheting, working with ceramics, growing flowers, playing cards, crossword puzzles and reading. Throughout her lifetime she was an avid gardener and believed in canning the produce she grew. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by them. Survivors include three children, Gary (Becky) Skrzypchak, Wausau; Norma (Glen) Lang, Philadelphia, Penn., Wayne (Elaine) Skrzypchak, Kenosha; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three sisters, Freida Michlig, Green Bay; Viola (Robert) Maahs, Fence, Wis., and Theresa (Anton) Legner, Mosinee, Besides her parents and husband, She was preceded in death by five brothers, Ronald, Jerome, Harry, Albin and Jake Jr., and two sisters, Linda Winzenried and Melania Jagodzinski. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday April 13, 2004 at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. Joseph Gyim-Austin will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Monday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, and again on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a combined parish and St. Catherine Council rosary service 6:00 Monday at the Sixth Street funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Holy Name Parish or to Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
