Emma P. Weiland
102, Wausau, died Friday October 10, 2003 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
She was born August 30, 1901 in Hamburg, daughter of the late August and Martha (Kraft) Bloch. On November 19, 1932 she married Edward Weiland in the town of Hamburg. He preceded her in death January 29, 1980.
Emma and Edward owned and operated Weiland Grocery Store on North Sixth Street, Wausau. At Salem Lutheran Church, Emma had been involved in Sunday School activities for many years. For over 90 years, knitting was one of her favorite pastimes, as well as reading.
Survivors include two sons, James (Judy) Weiland, Blue Ridge, Georgia; Thomas (Mary) Weiland, Wausau; five grandchildren, Polly (Steve) James, Steve Weiland, Mark Weiland, Jeff (Brooke) Weiland, Janelle Weiland; two great-granddaughters, Julia and Madelyn.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Weds. October 15, 2003 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Roy Hoenecke will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, and again on Weds. from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
