Emily S. Mitchell

Emily S. Mitchell 89, formerly of Marathon, died Thursday, June 17, 2004 at Colonial Medical Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. She was born August 14, 1914 in Tomahawk, daughter of the late Elzie and Dena (Barthels) Myers. On September 30, 1936, she married Vernal "Bill" Mitchell. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1994. Emily graduated in 1933 from the Tomahawk High School. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Emily enjoyed keeping track of her family tree, but her greatest joy was visiting with friends, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors includes one daughter, Diana "Jane" (Michael) McGivern, Wausau; four grandchildren, Vernon (Sheila) McGivern, Wausau and their children, Jered and Bianca (fiance, Torey Boettcher) McGivern; Ronald (Candy) McGivern, Hatley and their daughters, Megan and Jenna; Edward (Cindy) McGivern, Marathon and their children, Mallory and Joshua; Kathleen (Clemente Luquez) McGivern, Wausau; one sister, Bertha Burgoyne, Wausau; brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Mitchell and grandparents, Frederick and Bertha Barthels and Charles and Sarah Myers. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Marathon. Rev. Jon Hadler will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery, Marathon. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church.
