Emilie Mantik

October 22, 1915 — November 24, 2005

Emilie Mantik 90, formerly of Wausau, died Thursday, November 24, 2005 at Memorial Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Medford. She was born October 22, 1915 in Mosinee, daughter of the late Otto and Ida (Shidell) Paulson. On June 4, 1938, she married Fred A. Mantik in Wausau. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1991. Emilie and her husband had a dairy farm in the Abbotsford area for over 30 years. Besides helping on the farm, she was an excellent cook, hosting many Sunday after church dinners. She also kept very busy gardening, crocheting and sewing for her children and grandchildren, decorating and making crafts of all kinds. After Emilie and Fred moved to Wausau, she took a part-time cooking job at Wausau Insurance. She also opened "Granny's Snoop Coop", a craft shop in the basement of her home and continued to make and sell her craft items until she was about 80 years old. Survivors include her five children, Jerry (Carol) Mantik, Abbotsford; Nancy (Bruce) Armstrong, Madison; Gloria (Eugene) Setterman, Wausau; Ruby (Don) Peissig, Calif.; Sally (Mark) Arndt, Medford; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Glen Mantik; three sisters, LuCinda Paulson, Janet Tritten and Eunice Price; four brothers, Howard, Arthur, Herbert and Mark Paulson. The funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2005 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Wausau. Rev. Roger Davis will officate. Entombment will be in the Garden of Eternal Rest at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of services at the church. Emilie was a joy to be around and was deeply loved by her family. She has left her family with wonderful memories for which they will be forever grateful. She loved her Lord and Savior and is now in His presence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Immanuel Baptist Church, Wausau. Online condolences at www.petersonkraemer.com
