Emil J. Zins, 91, Wausau, formerly of Mosinee, died Friday, March 25, 2016 under Interim Hospice and Palliative Care at Mountain Terrace Senior Living, Wausau.
He was born July 22, 1924 in Mosinee, son of the late Peter and Emily (Smerda) Zins. On September 23, 1947 Emil married Cecelia "Ceil" Krautkramer at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marathon. She survives.
Emil and his wife, Ceil enjoyed traveling and took numerous trips together including to Europe, Alaska and a cruise to the Caribbean. They also enjoyed playing cards, especially Sheepshead, with their friends and relatives.
For many years, Emil worked in the wholesale building materials industry for Milwaukee Plywood-Hines Lumber Company. He served as a Eucharistic minister, mass server, usher and money counter for Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and was an honorary member of the George Schreier Council No. 1069 Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Cecelia, brother-in-law Lyle Krautkramer, sisters-in-law Marie Gau, Irene Cihlar and Sylvia Krautkramer, and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives living both locally and in France.
Besides his parents, Emil was preceded in death by one brother, Edward in childhood.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 28th, 2016 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee.
