Elsie F. Volkman

October 5, 1915 — November 17, 2011

Elsie F. Volkman Elsie F. Volkman was a loving wife and mother whose greatest joy was being around her family. She was born October 5, 1915 in Wausau, daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Anna (Stolze) Kittel. On April 8, 1944, she married Edward F. Volkman in the town of Texas. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1996. Elsie was a homemaker, an excellent cook and enjoyed puzzles, crafts, gardening and loved to fish. Together, Elsie and Edward spent many summers at their cottage on the Rainbow flowage. Elsie never had a driver's license because Ed would take her wherever she needed to go-but usually waited in the car for her. She especially enjoyed her dogs, BoBo and Carly. At age 13, she started working for the well-to-do families in Wausau. During the war, she worked at Marathon Battery and contributed to the war effort. She was a member of the Mission Evangelical Ladies Aid and the American Legion Auxiliary Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau. At age 96, Elsie passed away peacefully Thursday, November 17, 2011, at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. Survivors include, two sons, Jerome (Norma) Volkman and Dale L. (Sharon) Volkman, both of Wausau; one brother, Charles (Doris) Kittel, Minocqua; five grandchildren, Brenda Volkman, Winneconne, Lori (Randy) Oliphant, Winneconne, Lisa Fons, Wausau, Chad Volkman, Wausau and Nicole (Jason) Scharrer, Oshkosh; five great grandchildren, Jordan Fons, Haley Fons, Amanda (Chris) O'Neal and Alisha (friend, Chris) Schulz and Dylan Volkman; and two great-great grandchildren, Lilly Bachman and Jaxon Cooper O'Neal.
