Elroy C. Strasser

Elroy C. Strasser 87, Edgar, died Monday, August 8, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield after a brief illness. He was born December 30, 1923 in Edgar, son of the late Fred and Mary (Kania) Strasser. On June 30, 1948 he married Helen Weisenberger at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives. Elroy farmed for many years and also worked at the Edgar Packing Plant. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. Some of his other hobbies included playing bingo, gardening and especially spending time with his family. He was a member of St. John parish for many years and enjoyed helping with Friday night fish fry and volunteering time with Color Vision. Elroy took pride in helping others especially his neighbors and his popcorn will be greatly missed at all the family gatherings. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen, Edgar; children, Sherry (David) Zilinsky, Rib Mountain and children, Kelly (Josh) Denzin and Lisa (fiancAC. Mitch McCabe); Jerry (Lynn) Strasser, Rib Mountain and children, Ryan and Jeffrey; Dennis (Jayne) Strasser, Edgar and children, Jason (Shannon) and their daughters, Hannah, Ava and Jennifer (Sid) Brubacher; Bob (Sherri) Strasser, Wausau and children, Nicole and Brett; Sandy (Tim) Witzeling, Rib Mountain and children, Dustin (Natalie)and their daughter, Charlotte, and Mitch (Kathleen Webb) and Cody; Karen (Bill) Fischer, Marathon and children Chad, Heather (fiancAC. Aaron Zimmel) and Ryan (Amber Guralski); Kathy (Craig) Radloff, Weston and children, Kyle, Shawn, Brandon and Matthew; and Terry (Jill) Strasser, Marathon and children, Jordan and Jaeden; two sisters, Delphine Trawicki and Ella Bornheimer, both of Edgar. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by infant twins, Nancy Ann and Mary Jane, brothers, John and Ray, and sisters, Irene, Lillian, Viola and Margaret. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2011 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
