Elroy A. Burgoyne
75, Schofield, was released from his physical burdens to enter into eternal peace surrounded by family and friends on Thursday August 3, 2006 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born May 13, 1931 in Schofield, son of the late Harry and Mary (Janikowski) Burgoyne. In 1955, he married Delores Fierek at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. She survives.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army.
Elroy had been employed at the former Wright's Music Store and later with LCL Transit for many years. He retired to his hobby farm and raised ginseng. Among his favorite things to do were spending time with his family, camping, traveling, taking Sunday drives and he loved to gamble.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Burgoyne, six children, Harry (Nancy) Burgoyne, Weston, Nancy (Michael) Lang, Kronenwetter, Randy Burgoyne, Rothschild, Mary (Jeff) Abt, Kronenwetter, Wayne (Maria) Burgoyne, Bevent, Tammy (John) Johnkoski, Wausau, six grandchildren, Lee Ryan, Adam Smith, Amy Burgoyne, Becca & Molly Erdman and Abby Burgoyne, two brothers, Lloyd Burgoyne, Wausau and Andy (Gloria) Burgoyne, Hatley and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Elmer Doerr, a grandson, Jacob Smith and a brother, Bob Burgoyne.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. Monday August 7, 2006 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Weston. Rev. Joseph Rafacz will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the Sixth Street funeral home.
