Elmer J. Foster

Elmer John Foster 96, Wausau, died Friday August 7, 2009 at North Central Health Care Facilities, Wausau. He was born January 17, 1913, in Cook County, Illinois, son of the late John and Ella (Stephanee) Foster. On March 12, 1932, he married Florence Weden in the town of Pine River. They were married 69 years. Elmer was an honorable man, a devoted husband and father, and a dedicated employee of Marathon County for many years. An avid advocate for the working man, Elmer was active in his labor union. He was a great conversationalist, enjoyed family holiday and birthday celebrations, gardening, hunting and fishing. He was anxious to share his numerous hunting tales as well as his love of the Wausau area with lumbering and road development stories. Survivors include his children, Joan Young, St. Paul, Minn., Norma (Marv) Seehafer, Schofield, Wayne (Judy) Foster, Greendale, Carl Foster, Wausau, Harlan (Rosie) Foster, and Dale Foster, all of Schofield, ten grandchildren, Jeff, Joel, Jay, Susan, Dennis, Mike, Scott, Jason, Sara and Jocelyn, 16 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Florence in 2002, brothers, Lawrence and Paul, sister, Ruth Weden, son-in-law, Jack Young, daughter-in-law, Judy Foster, grandson, Jonathan Foster and great great granddaughter, Samantha Young. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday August 10, 2009 at Grace United Church of Christ, Wausau. Rev. Wayne Drueck will officiate. Entombment will be in the Garden of Eternal Rest Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of North Central Health Care Facilities for the outstanding care extended to Elmer during his time with them.
