Ellen S. Karpinski

Ellen S. Karpinski 98, 1438 N. 12th Ave., Wausau, died Wednesday July 11, 2001 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. She was born August 19, 1902 in Hancock, Wisconsin daughter of the late Frank and Katherine (King) Deuel. She married Alvin Janz in 1927 in Dancy. He preceded her in death. In 1948 she married August Karpinski in Wausau. He preceded her in death. Ellen was a homemaker and a life member of the VFW Burns Post #388 Auxiliary. Survivors include a daughter, Iva Shafer, Wausau, a sister, Anita Olson, Oshkosh, a half sister, Lucinda (Larry) Laabs, Oshkosh, two half brothers, William Deuel, Wautoma and Frank Deuel, Janesville. Besides her husbands, Ellen was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Fred Shafer and three half brothers, Allen, Roland and Lloyd Deuel. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday July 16, 2001 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. The Very Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 3:00 p.m. and a VFW Auxiliary Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Sixth Street funeral home.
