Ella Rose Kannenberg

Ella Rose Kannenberg 91, Wausau died Friday, May 28, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born June 16, 1918 in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Raymond and Lotty (Strable) Parent. On September 23, 1939 she married John Kannenberg, the former Mayor of Wausau in Merrill. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2008. Ella Rose first began her career in retail with Heinemann's Department Store as a clerk and later worked as a buyer and manager for more than 20 years at the former Johnson Hills Department Store in Wausau. Some of her favorite pastimes included gardening, tending to her flowers, bird watching, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Loren (Karri Kline) Kannenberg, LaCrosse, Lloyd Kannenberg, Wausau and Anthony (Katherine Hoveland) Kannenberg, Madison; nine grandchildren, Dean (Julie) Kannenberg, Paul Kannenberg, Eric (Jennifer) Kannenberg, Patrick (Kathy) Kannenberg, Michele (Alan) Schneider, Trisha (Charles) Abney, Brian (Betsy) Kannenberg, Raymond Kannenberg and Briana Spicer and 12 great grandchildren and one sister, Julia Steffen, Hazelhurst. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Raymond Kannenberg and infant siblings, John, James, Frances, Roma and Margaret Mary. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 at The Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. The Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services all at the church.
