Elizabeth "Betty" J. Seubert 81, Marathon, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in her home under the care of her family with the support of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born February 16, 1931 in the town of Rietbrock, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Matysik) Bonin. On August 7, 1956, she married Alexius "Lefty" Seubert at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1994. For 35 years, Betty worked for Marathon Cheese Corp., until her retirement on July 25, 1996. Throughout her life she was involved in many church activities and prayed often in the Adoration Chapel with her friend, Sis. In her more active years Betty was a member of the Secular Franciscan's, the PCCW, volunteered at the St. Anthony Retreat Center and also volunteered for Color Vision in Marathon. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed baking, cooking and had a reputation as an outstanding candy maker. During the Christmas season, friends and family were routinely treated to her cookies and candy. Visitors often left her house with a box full of candy and cookies. Betty also enjoyed participating in "Packer Pools" and won more than her share. Most of all, Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren and especially enjoyed her great grandchildren who will always have a special place in her heart. Survivors include daughter, Therese (Randy) Sauter, Marathon; son, Ron (Mary) Seubert, Maple Grove, Minn.; four grandchildren, Troy (Lynsey) Seubert, Maple Grove, Minn., Gretchen Seubert, Plymouth, Minn., Amber (Ben) Sebold, Albertville, Minn. and Lindsey Sauter, Madison; three great grandchildren, Kaden and Riley Sebold and Damian Alexius Seubert; sister, Rita Bonin, Edgar, twin brother, Joe Bonin, Athens; four sisters-in-law, Lorraine Bonin, Illinois, Joan Seubert, Marathon, Charlotte Seubert, Marathon and Sister Johanna Seubert F.S.P.A., Willard, Wis.; two brothers-in-law, Rev. August Seubert O.F.M. Cap, Chicago and Lawrence "Shorty" Miller, Wausau; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Alexius, she was preceded in death by two infant sons, John and Joseph; six sisters, Ann, Mayme, Sylvia, Marcella, Delores and Phyllis; three brothers, Leo, Leonard and Eugene and a great granddaughter, Estella Grace Seubert. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Saturday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at church until time of service. There will be a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. followed by a time of reflection Friday evening at the funeral home. Online condolences at www.petersonkraemer.com
