Elizabeth A. Klimpke

Elizabeth A. Klimpke 79, Athens, died Thursday January 8, 2009 at Memorial Health Center, Medford. She was born December 3, 1929, in the town of Halsey, daughter of the late Emil and Katherine (Bergman) Eder. On June 15, 1946 she married Ernest Klimpke at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. He preceded her in death February 19, 2006. Elizabeth loved traveling, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and rug weaving. Many of her creations were given to loved ones. She was a member of the American Legion Chapman-Belter Post No. 4 Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrew J. Sutter Post No. 8527 Auxiliary, all of Athens. Survivors include two daughters, Joanne (Robert) Schug, Athens and Mary Ann Oelke, Weston, three sons, Arthur (Karla) Klimpke, Medford, John (Brenda) Klimpke, Kenai, Alaska, Mark (Sheila) Klimpke, Clear Lake, 21 grandchildren, including one special granddaughter, Sandy Neubauer, with whom she made her home; and 32 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Pat Klimpke; special friends, Elmer Wallner, Betty Stock, and Lavina Klimpke; nieces and nephews, many cousins, and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Carl Klimpke, one infant daughter, Darlene, one granddaughter, Cindy Schug, one brother, Henry Albrecht. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Weds. January 14, 2009 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Weds. from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Athens funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
