Elgardt A. Neumann
84, 540 E. Thomas Street, Wausau, died Thursday November 11, 2004 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born March 25, 1920 in Wausau, son of the late Fred and Bertha (Wenzel) Neumann. On October 18, 1947 he married Elsie Braunel in Wausau. She preceded him in death March 25, 1996.
Elgardt had been employed as a sales distributor for the former Frankies Beverage and later worked for Schuette Builders. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. Among his favorite hobbies were woodworking and fishing, as well as being an avid bowler. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran church, serving as an usher and was also involved in volunteer work on various church projects.
Survivors include two sons, Clarence (Karen) Neumann, Wautoma, Alan (Diane) Neumann, Weston, Linda (Ronald) Holbach, Mosinee, Debra (Harold) Wienke, Wausau, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three half brothers, William (Elvera) Neumann, Lester Neumann and Elroy Neumann, all of Wausau.
Besides his wife and parents, Elgardt was preceded in death by three sisters, Mabel Kurth, Lorraine Nowaczyk, Agnes Kersemeier and a half sister, Jalane Schlueter.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday November 15, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Gary Schultz will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, where full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion, Montgomery Plant Post No. 10. Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
