Eleanor J. Seim

Eleanor J. Seim, 93, Wausau, died Sunday April 23, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born April 6, 1924, in the town of Bevent, daughter of the late Marcel and Martha (Dombeck) Gruna. On Thanksgiving Day, November 20, 1941, she married Leonard J. Seim in Wausau. He preceded her in death January 9, 2002. Eleanor was a volunteer at Colonial Manor Nursing Home where she spent over 40 years helping in various capacities. A longtime member of St. Michael Parish, she also spent much time volunteering for different activities there. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, sitting outside visiting with neighbors and friends. She loved spending time at their cottage up north and was an avid fisherman. Survivors include three sons, Jerry Seim, Schofield, Bill (Joan) Seim, Austin, Texas, Bob (Julie) Seim, Schofield, nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great great grandson and her twin sister, Florence Stratton, Detroit, Michigan. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, two great grandchildren, two brothers, Conrad and Norbert Gruna and four sisters, Madeline Pergalski, Cecelia Boerner, Marian Kroening and Adeline Tuskowski. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Weds. April 26, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch and Rev. Greg Bohren will preside. Entombment will be in Holy Angels Mausoleum at St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus Hospital and to the in-home care providers, Shirley and Lisa, for the wonderful care and support shown to Eleanor and her family.
