Eleanor M. Kage
78, 3001 Westhill Drive, Wausau, formerly of Marathon, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau.
She was born December 28, 1925 in the town of Rib Falls, daughter of the late Walter and Selma (Zunker) Dahlke. On November 11, 1950 she married Harold Kage at Holy Name Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2002.
Eleanor was a homemaker. She enjoyed visiting with her sisters, gardening, speaking German, spending time at the cottage on Manson Lake and traveling, especially the trips to Arizona in the winter. Eleanor was a member of St. Mary Parish Council of Catholic Women and enjoyed lending a helping hand at St. Anthony Retreat Center, Marathon. Harold and Eleanor were also ginseng farmers in the Marathon area for many years. Eleanor had a great love for robins and cardinals but special to her was the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Pamela (Joe) Osswald, Wausau, and their children, Joshua, Renae, Heather and Laura; Jacalyn (Delton) Karlen, Wausau, and their children, Matthew, Christopher and Jonathan; Jeff Kage, Marathon, and his son, Paul; Mark (Lori) Kage, Marathon, and their son, Brett; Sheila (James) Wirig, Wausau; Michael (Maryann) Kage, Wausau, and their children, Jacob and Samantha, two great grandchildren, twins Josalyn and Colin, three sisters, June (Elroy Jr.) Roeder, Rothschild, Lorraine (Fredrick) Plautz, Wausau, Sharon (Merlin) Goetsch, Marathon, two brothers, Douglas Dahlke, Wausau and Harold (Doris) Dahlke, Merrill.
Besides her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by one sister, Stella Schuster and two brothers, Wilbert and Hubert Dahlke.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2004 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
