Eldrid R. Krahn Sr

Eldrid R. Krahn Sr., 88, God put His loving arms around him and called him home July 5, 2002 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. He was born May 24, 1914 in the town of Cassel, son of the late Ernest and Ida (Weinkauf) Krahn Sr. He was united in marriage with Annette Kroll, January 27, 1940 at St. Hedwig Church in Milwaukee. She survives. Eldrid and his wife, Annette farmed in the town of Cassel from 1942 - 1970. He also worked for Chicago Northwest Railroad and the Motor Transport Co. in Milwaukee. He was a St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church member for 82 years and served as Deacon and Trustee for many years. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Edgar Co-op. He was a member of the Wausau Senior Citizen Bowling Club and AARP. Eldrid loved being with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends, traveling, bowling and dancing. He always took the time to help anyone with projects, whether it was his children, grandchildren, family or friends. Besides his wife, Annette, he is survived by one daughter; Audrey (Duane) Kamenick, Edgar; two sons; Eldred E. (Carol) Krahn Jr., Wausau, Marty (Colette) Krahn, Wausau; six grandchildren; Todd (Terri) Kamenick, Lance (Theresa) Kamenick, Amy Kamenick, Christopher Krahn, Jennifer Krahn, Benjamin Krahn; four great grandsons; Jacob, Bryce, Noah, Seth; one sister-in-law; Arleen Krahn. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by; triplet daughters; Carol, Dianne, Frances; one brother; Lawrence Krahn; three sisters, Eleanora Buttke, Loretta Lundquist, Leona Grell. The funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church, Edgar. The Rev. Jeff Tarras will officiate. Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7:30 p.m., Monday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, and again on Tuesday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church Handicapped Fund or Comfort Care and Hospice Services, Wausau. There will a prayer service on Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the Edgar funeral home. Pallbearers for the service will be Eldrid's six grandchildren; Todd, Lance and Amy Kamenick and Christopher, Benjamin and Jennifer Krahn.
