Elden "Al" O. Wood Jr.
76, Wausau, died Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.
He was born May 14, 1931 in Milwaukee, son of the late Elden Sr. and Agnes "Elizabeth" (McMillan) Wood. On April 16, 1955 he married Ann Baxandall in Midland, Mich. She survives.
Elden worked as an electrician for Weyerhaeuser and served his country in the United States Army and National Guard. He was a member of the Local 319 U.P.I.U., Marathon County Labor Council and North Central C.A.P. In his spare time he volunteered at the United Way, the Ice Age Trail and backstage for the Community Theater. Some of his hobbies included hiking, canoeing, skiing and reading stories to his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, Wausau; children, Kathleen (Dean) Breunig, Port Edwards, Julia (Karel) Newman, Escondido, Calif., Rebecca (Samuel) Gullickson, Waseca, Minn. and Aimee (Tony) Pintens, Hillsdale; 14 grandchildren; brother, John (Jeanne) Wood, West Bend; sister, Rebecca (Huck) Tan, Manhatten Beach, Calif.; brother-in-law, Charles Harmon, Cedarburg, and many other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Lucretia Harmon.
Private family services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ice Age Park and Trail Foundation.
