Elaine M. Langhoff, 89, of Hillsboro, formerly of Athens, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Milestone Senior Living in Hillsboro under the care of St. Croix Hospice.
She was born on March 27, 1936, to the late Henry and Inga (Johnsurd) Halvorson in Fenwood. Elaine was baptized at home on May 14, 1936, and confirmed on July 3, 1949, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Fenwood. Elaine attended Fenwood Grade School, Edgar High School, and beauty school in Wausau. She was united in marriage to Roger Langhoff on November 4, 1961, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Wausau. She was a member of Christ United Church in Athens and was also a former president of the American Legion Auxiliary and WWT Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her daughters, Roxanne (John) Glassford of Marathon and Holly (David) DeWitt of Tomah; Step-son, Scott (JoAnna) Langhoff of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Cassandra Glassford (Kris Bucholtz) of Stevens Point, Cole (Holly) Glassford of Oshkosh, Bryan (April) Langhoff of Clintonville, Brittany (Kyle) Kast of Tomah, Nicole (Scott) Sobczak of Yuba, Jordan DeWitt of Ontario, Allison (Jason) Borchardt of Wausau, and Sarah (Kip) Krueger of Wausau; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Sharlette, Trysten, Dante, Luna, Levi, Courtney, David, Cassius, Finton, and a great-grandbaby due in February 2026; a great-great-grandchild due in April 2026; and sister, JoAnn Swanson of Abrams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; daughter, Michelle; parents, Henry and Inga; and siblings, Doris, Betty, Orvis, Helen, Arnold, Melvin, Irving, Florence, and Christine.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Christ United Church, Athens, with Rev. Teri Hanson officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and conclude at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, all at the church. Private family burial will take place in Restlawn Memorial Park, town of Texas. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.
