Edwin A. Schreiner

Edwin A. Schreiner 92, 316 Elm Street, Athens, died Saturday September 1, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield. He was born June 19, 1909 in Athens, son of the late John and Frances (Berghammer) Schreiner. He married Esther Rogstad on June 15, 1932 at St. John Catholic Church, Marshfield. She preceded him in death on February 16, 1999. Edwin and Esther farmed in the Town of Bern. At the time of their retirment in 1971 they moved to their cottage on Somo Lake in Tomahawk until moving back to Athens in 1992. He was a 75 year member of the Catholic Knights Society and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodcrafts but his passion was playing the pushbutton accordion. Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette (Norbert) Daniels, Shirley (John) Daniels, all of Athens, three sons, Myron (Joyce) Schreiner, Reed Springs, Missouri, Clyde (Anne) Schreiner, Largo, Fla., Ronald (Donna) Schreiner, Medford, 26 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters and two great-grandchildren. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Weds. September 5, 2001 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Weds. from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Athens funeral home.
