Edwin E. Dorfschmidt

Edwin "Eddie" E. Dorfschmidt 86, Athens, died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield. He was born on September 11, 1921 in the town of Frankfort, son of the late Carl and Ida (Fliehs) Dorfschmidt. On September 23, 1961, he married Geraldine M. (Grosskreutz) Petrick at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hamburg. She preceded him in death on November 29, 2001. Eddie farmed in the town of Frankfort for several years and also worked in construction. Among his many interests, he enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing and was an avid Brewer and Packer fan. Survivors include, one step-daughter, Nancy (Ken) Ellenbecker, Athens; one step-son, Gary (Carol) Petrick, Stratford; one daughter-in-law, Sue (Jeff) Peterson, Westboro; 10 step-grandchildren; 18 step-great grandchildren; three nephews, Gene Rodman, Athens, Allen and Scott Hermann, both of Colby; two nieces, Linda (Jeff) Stone, Madison and Penny (Gary) Searer, Colby; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Merton Bennett, Unity, Ed Hermann, Colby, Rose Weisenberger, Fenwood, Red Nowak, Stevens Point, Leroy and Bernice Grosskreutz, Wausau, Les and Phyllis Baumer, Wausau, Angie Ralson, Lake Park, Minn. and Dianne Grosskreutz, Evans, Colo. Besides his parents and wife, Geraldine, he was preceded in death by one step-son, Roger Petrick Sr.; four sisters, Gustave Thielig, Helen Rodman, Esther Bennett and Evelyn Hermann; and one brother, Raymond Dorfschmidt. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Edgar. Rev. LaDonna Ekern will officiate. Burial will be in the Fenwood Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Stephen Ev.
