Edwin "Ed" O. Bucknell

Edwin "Ed" Oliver Bucknell, 75, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. He was born August 19, 1941, to Lloyd and Lorraine (Akey) Bucknell in Woodruff WI, Oneida Co. Edwin "Ed" met his bride, Virginia Abitz at Fern Island in Wausau and they married on August 25, 1962, at St. Mary's Church in Wausau. He was a kind-hearted and caring family man who had a soft side for babies and pets. He was a Do-it-Yourself-er before that was a fad: Carpenter, auto mechanic, wood cutter, plumber, plasterer, mason, snow-plower, welder and loved to pick berries. His favorite vehicle was his lawn mower and his favorite places to be were with his family or in his workshop. Ed graduated from Mosinee High School and received his marketing degree from North Central Technical College. He was a hard-worker all his life and through the years worked for Sulzer Farm, Knowlton Cannery, a foundry in Milwaukee, Lemke Cheese, Frank Drake Plastering, Hook Hardware, Terkelson's Hardware and Grebe's Hardware. Ed is survived by his wife, Virginia; children, Mary (Larry) Gast, Teresa (Craig) Husted, Joseph Bucknell, Arnold Bucknell, Kathy (Rod) Mommaerts, and Dave (Theresa) Bucknell, sister, Barbara Nechuta; brother, Lloyd (Arlene) Bucknell, and 10 grandchildren, Brandi, Emily, Ellen, Nate, Reid, Jack, Isaac, Ben, Greg and Russel. Edwin is preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers Robert and James Bucknell. The memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Church of St. Anne, 700 West Bridge St., Wausau. Rev. Nathaniel Kuhn will preside. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
